For those of you who missed out on the fun, Saturday, April 2nd was a day to be remembered.
Chicken enthusiasts and freinds of the feather came to hear two local & national poultry experts, Nona & Mary Shearer, share their "eggs"pertise on raising chickens. These two "chicks" really know their stuff! They filled our ears and minds with great information and funny stories & humorous visuals... 55 people attended the "Chicken Chat".
After at, 33 brave souls endured sun, rain, hail, wind and sleet to tour 8 local Estacada chicken coops and 3 surrounding feed stores. Drawings were held at each location with great prizes to be won.
Chickens of all types are living in coops of all shapes & sizes. One of the most fun I've seen is this "Chick Condo", which resembles the owners home... so it should come as no surprise that the 4 future residents are 8 week old Cochin hens in various colors. Pretty hens for a pretty coop! : )
We'll get pictures of all our participating coops up on the blog for your viewing pleasure!
