JUST A GLIMPSE..

It has been awhile since I did a "walk about" and snapped pictures of some of my favorite things. Of those favorite things, these are just a few of them.

This bench is a bit over 12 feet long, over 100 years old, out of the Springwater Church. Only one is for sale - it is rare, lovely, and an amazing find.

This is a very old poultry poster. I have never seen one in such great shape. Quite large & would be wonderful in many places.

This old radio/record player works great and sounds even better. A fun find..

Such a sweet cabinet....with such possibilities

HELLO... HELLO.... Can you hear me know. We have come a long way baby! I think I may be mixing my commercials..

Imagine your dog in this custom made log home......

Great yard art..... on your shed, barn, etc...

These are very popular!

I want to say this is a seal skin trunk. Very unusual... love it.

As I walked through the shop, without my camera, there is so much new, cool stuff. I guess you will just have to make a tour of your own.

Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going to fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why....Eddie Cantor

AND REMEMBER, this weekend is our Flea Market. A half acre of vendors, food, and music. Free admission.. Open 9a - 6p

See you then!

CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!

THE WADE CREEK HOUSE

COME FOR A VISIT AND SIT A WHILE...

We had a wonderful day for a garden tour. Beautiful gardens, gracious hosts and hostesses, and inspiration everywhere. Thank you to our garden owners for opening up their gardens to us. Thank you to our “ tourees” for their feedback on what a wonderful day it was. Every garden amazing, inspiring, and motivating. And all for a great cause. The money total has yet to be tallied, but all proceeds from this garden tour will be donated to our Estacada Senior Community Center. Thank you to Pam Vincent for doing such a great job organizing the day.

Next Saturday, July 28th, Linda will be helping us create our own Rustic Small Tool Organizer at The Wade Creek House. Practical, primitive, and perfect for my shed wall. Workshop starts at 11am so call the shop (503-630-7556) to reserve your spot. Cost is $25… this is going to be fun!

We adore chaos because we love to produce order… M Escher

Also this weekend, July 27 and 28, is Estacada’s Summer Celebration. A celebration of art and music. There are fun activities for children with giant puppets, lots of live music, free hands-on art activities for children and adults, a silent art auction, lots of food and the beautiful Broadway Street Art Fair. Plan to spend the day in Estacada! For more information, check out Estacada Summer Celebration 2012 for a complete listing of all the planned activities! We hope to see you!

TO MOB AND TO BE MOBBED..

So much happening, it is hard to keep up. First off, we want to thank Estacada Development Association's Main Street Program AND the Estacada Chamber of Commerce for making us their second CASH MOB site. What is Cash Mob you ask? It is a campaign strategy to promote local, small businesses here in Estacada. How does it work? A date and time is chosen in advance so you can plan on going somewhere. You plan on spending $20 and of course more is ok too. The location is not revealed until 24 hours prior to the mob. Then on the appointed hour, you mob the chosen location and spend that $20. It gives businesses a chance to have a great sales day and to meet/greet new and returning customers and a chance for new customers to meet you. As Carrie said "It was fun, fun, fun! Thank you Estacada!"

Since The Wade Creek House has many members, it was fun to have many of them on hand.

Meet a few of our MOB.... Thank you all for coming!

NOW WE NEED ANOTHER CASH MOB for a very good cause. THIS SATURDAY, JULY 21st, is our SECOND ANNUAL ESTACADA GARDEN TOUR to benefit our Estacada Senior Community Center. Folks around town and a bit out of town, have been working hard getting their gardens ready for touring. Last year the gardens were spectacular, inspiring, and motivating. I can't wait to see this years gardens. Pam Vincent, our wonderful organizer for this event, has done a great job selecting gardens. Remember, if you would like to be part of this tour next year.... let us know! Cost if $15 per person and $25 per couple. All money raised goes to the Senior/Community Center. You can stop by and purchase our tour map early, but maps will not be handed out until day of the tour.

We are looking forward to a wonderful day for a wonderful cause. We hope to see you there!

PLUM SAUCE, RASPBERRY SALSA, and DEVONSHIRE CREAM... OH MY

Today was our Second Annual Farm to Table Tea and it was a memorable experience. Good food, good friends, good times.... it can't get any better than that! Our tea hostess, Patricia Tawney, made this day possible and spectacular. The menu delicious and unique with edible lily filled with ambrosia and topped with strawberry sauce to the croissant filled with chicken salad nasturtium and raspberry salsa. And that was just a portion of the meal.
Pat designed the menu and made everything happen... here she is getting things ready..
Meridith, her daughter Merrit, and I were the servers. This was a new experience for us and was very fun.
Meet our wonderful guests....
I am already looking ahead to next year but Pat will have a hard time topping this one. Space is limited to 20 so remember that next year as spaces fill up quickly.
Tea is instant wisdom... just add water...

What do leaves, gardens, fleas, and teas have in common?

What do leaves, gardens, fleas and teas have in common..

Some of our events this month!!
(Concrete Leaves, Wall Gardens, Flea Market, Farm to Table Tea)

That sounds kind of silly but we have some great events this month  and thought it would be fun to give you a picture tour of those events.   First up is Nikki's Beginning Concrete Leaf Casting.  Very popular.   It is Saturday (tomorrow) morning July 9 at 10:30 and the class filled up so quickly that Nikki added a few more spots.  I took this one last year...  I rate it a 10!  I had such fun.  I made more and gave them as Christmas presents.

For the beginner class, Nikki uses leaves 8 inches and smaller.  Her Advanced Concrete Leaf Casting is scheduled for August 11.  She uses bigger leaves,  teaches reinforcement, color, and more.  The beginner class filled up quickly so I am sure this one will too.  Call soon!

Then on June 16 at 11am, Linda is helping you make a Framed Living Wall Gardens.  It is beautiful, you can use so many flower combinations and you can reuse the frame next year if you want to change your theme.  Cost is $25, bring a spade and your gloves.

Jim has been working hard getting ready for the ESTACADA FLEA MARKET at The Wade Creek House.  Date is June 23 beginning at 9am.  The shop will be open early too.  Our acre will be filled with vendors and Amy is bringing her food cart.  We are soooo excited.  We still have a few vendor spots available so if this is something you are interested in, give the shop a call.  You can rent a 10 x 15 space for only $25.

This is a picture from our Second Saturday Sale a couple of years ago.  I can't wait to find more junk finds this year!!!  Don't miss it!  FREE Admittance.

On June 30th at 10am, Annette Reisbeck will be helping us make a Nuno Felted Spiral Scarf.  Annette is an amazing felter, and she will be teaching us how to combine wet felting fiber and a square of silk scarf to create a ruffly, spiral scarf when it is dry.  There are all kinds of color combinations to experiment with to end up with a finished scarf looking totally different from the original materials.  Wear casual or dressy - an all season scarf.  Cost is $55 - all supplies provided.  Extra material kits are available for sale because you won't want to stop at just one.

So that is June but there is one more event that you will want to put on your calendars.  Saturday, July 7th is our Farm to Table Country Tea.  RSVP BY JULY 1 REQUIRED!!  Here you will be treated like royalty with linens, china, and silver.  And that is only the beginning.  See pictures below.....   Cost is $25.
