THANKSGIVING DAY AT THE WADE CREEK HOUSE

We hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving..   We have so much to be thankful for... our families, good health and happiness.

There are several ways to celebrate Thanksgiving....  the most important part for us is being together with our family and if we can throw in some "activity" all the better.  So the McFarland and Carroll families added a new dimension this year.  The raising of the silo.  Just yesterday we had an offer to use a boom truck which is the smart way to go so we set that up for Saturday morning.  This morning was so beautiful the guys just decided to go down to the shop and get the silo in the right position, put the straps on and have it ready to attach to the boom truck early Saturday.  But when they got that far, they decided just to finish the task.  My son Josh said "You shouldn't be too surprised that this happened."  The weather was remarkably good for most of the day and the guys did a great job.   Check it out

The gang has arrived at THE WADE CREEK HOUSE

The thinkers  ..  Bill and our son Josh, son-in-law Tim and his dad Bill, and my dad Al

Tuck it under here...

A rope tied to the truck on the next lot gently pulling.

Out of view is Becky doing the happy dance - silo up and no problems.... yeah!

And Grandson Tyler - age 3 - also a big helper

Tim on top taking off the ropes....

So one step closer ........   Don't forget the Open House..... Saturday, December 3rd   noon - 4pm

GRAND OPENING OF "THE ROOST"

At long last, the opening of "The Roost" is near.  Although the details are not quite complete, that is not going to stop us from opening..... and sharing that with you.   JOIN US, Saturday December 3rd, from noon to 4pm.  We have some wonderful new members, gals AND GUYS!

BUT, that is not all.  Linda is holding a Holiday Swag Workshop.  This is our fifth Christmas and Linda has come with something new every year.  The workshops will be held two different days, Saturday, November 26th and then again Saturday, December 3rd.  There are two opportunities each day, from noon to 2pm and again from 2pm - 4 pm.  Linda will supply all the materials, just bring some gloves and some snippers if you have them, and some friends.  A great event to do as a group.  Linda would like to know that you are coming so call the shop at 503-630-7556 to let her know.

This is "The Roost,"  a name chosen by the members of The Wade Creek House.  It holds room for 6 more members, a great classroom and a huge space for Bill and I.  Time to clean out the barn and shed so lots to come in.  Gal and guy stuff.
I will introduce you to each of our members starting next week....

Riley's Soy Candles made by Riley Carroll are made locally in Sandy, Oregon.
She is the mother of 2 small boys, ages 1 and 3, so she has plenty of  help.

Debbie Ingamells makes the most wonderful button garland..... either all white or mixed.  You will LOVE these!

Our talented Debbie Shaffer created this delightful crow.....

And I also wanted to let you know that Riley has stocked the shop for the hoidays with her line of Riley's Soy Candles.  Many new scents... these make perfect stocking stuffers, hostess gifts, for your best friend or your co-worker.  Give then a try and you will be hooked!

Fall is my favorite time of year - next to Spring that is...

I know that Halloween is just around the corner but on
days like today, I love to stroll outside and enjoy the
clean, crisp air. I snapped some shots for you to enjoy too..

I love gourds... we grew these in the garden at
The Wade Creek House along with that beautiful
Cinderella pumpkin that has yet to turn color..

In the fall, there are so many beautiful types of foliage.
Look around your yard and gather what strikes your
fancy.  Fill a vintage container....bring the outside in.

Tree Benches... how fun

Some scenery -
the lavender trimmed and the "Air Mail" mailbox
that came with the house.  Love it

I am sorry that I have not kept up with the blog as well
as I should but you will see that change.  Stop by and
check  out the new area.  We hope to have it open by the
end of the month...  I will keep you posted.

Thinking of Mom

Life has thrown us a bit with the passing of my mom.  She always loved to come to the shop when she was in town and being in my parents home, I saw some of those things she brought home.  The candlesticks that fit just right on her narrow mantle with the guardian angle sitting next to them.  The deer in the garden brings back the memories of that day.  Even though she is gone from our sight, we will be forever surrounded by her presence.
Miss you Mom.

 But can she type?

We are lucky to have an acre which we seem to be slowly filling up.  The new building is coming along and
soon we hope to have more treasures and a place for year around workshops and classes.
Stop by and check it out!

There is always a place to sit, rest, and enjoy the view.

Thank you kind Sonya for more great pictures.    I even have more for another post so hopefully I can be more timely!
