Happy Birthday!

You met my dad George on Veterans Day dressed up in his WWII uniform.  Today is his 93rd birthday. Over 70 of his family, friends and neighbors surprised him this afternoon and sang him happy birthday.   He has had quite the day. Happy Birthday Dad!  Thanks for wearing your Wade Creek House Antiques sweatshirt.

Happy Veteran’s Day..

Today is Veteran’s Day…I know I  told this story a few years ago so this is an update..

Meet my dad George…age 93 next week and a veteran.  He joined the Navy when he was just 17.  He started in Chicago, to Virginia to California then shipped out to New Guinea, the Admiralty Islands, and then the Philippines working on airplanes much of the time.  

This story started when my dad was visiting from Seattle and while he was here, we went to an estate sale.   We found a WWII Navy uniform just like what my dad wore.  The top fit, the pants had a big hole in the leg… that was the beginning.  Once home, dad got on-line and found  pants without the big hole, my brother found the hat,  I found the kerchief, etc.   So at age 88 my dad was once again in uniform… he tells everyone that he has re-enlisted.   Since then dad continues to wear his unifom at least twice a year. He visits mom at the national cemetery every week and on Veterans Day and Memorial Day he wears his uniform.  People enjoy seeing him as much as he enjoys these days.

So to my dad and to all those that have served… you make us proud…thank you for all you gave us.    Love you dad!

Sweet Millie...

If you have ever been to Wade Creek House chances are you have met sweet Millie. Millie was born shortly after we purchased the Wade Creek House property 11 years ago so she grew up spending a lot of time there.. She was our official greeter, the one with the happy smile and big tail wag. She loved everyone and everyone loved her back. We said goodbye to our sweet Millie today.. our hearts are hurting but we were blessed to have been so loved.
