THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS... isn't there a song with that title?

The other day my daughter-in-law was looking for the movie, The Sound of Music,  for a friend.  Since then, I can't seem to get this line out of my head when I look around the shop...  So instead of trying to fight it, I thought I would use it.  You can hum along as you look through some of my new favorite things.

This book really interests me.  Written by a former Oregon govenor from the 1800's, T. T. Geer wrote this book about "experiences, observations and commentaries upon men, measures, and customs in pioneer days and later times."  It was written in 1912 - and talking about pioneer times.  What an amazing find.

We have a couple new antique hand painted globe lamps.  So beautiful.

An old cistern water pump from Kansas.  Prety cool.. you don't see these around here.

If you remember, Jan had a whole collection of Popular Mechanics magazines from her dads estate.  From the 1920's to the 1970's.  Jan has retired, left the membership at The Wade Creek House and settled in Pine Hollow and took her magazines with her.  I had the opportunity to get them back as I just love them.  They make a great gift for the guys in your life.  Come check them out.  They are in amazing condition.

Amber, another one of our creative members, created this wonderful chicken out of stained glass and her special technique.  Absolutely beautiful.  She is in the process of creating a Mt. Hood picture to bring in next.

And speaking of being creative, Carrie crafted this Love picture.... perfect as a Valentines gift to hang all year....    Its almost that time of year you know.

These are very unusual.  Hawkins Electrical Guides from the early 1900's... Very cool

That is it for today... keep humming.
Did you know that people that hum and people that whistle are happy people...

QUILTING 101 - THE BEGINNING OF A SAMPLER QUILT

We had such fun in Debbie Ingamell's Block-A-Month Quilting Class.  I quilted several years ago but she taught me some things I didn't know about how to ensure that your points lined up..

Debbie is keeping it to a small group.  Maximum of 10 so we still have a couple slots to add more people.   Not everyone had sewing experience but Debbie made it easy.  You can tell she loves to teach.  She started out with introductions to rotary cutters something I had not used when I used to quilt.  How easy that was.

Debbie brought the sewing machines, iron and ironing boards, patterns and everything we needed.  She is even going with us to help us pick out our fabric..

A little sewing..

And the final result

These were our practice blocks made from fabric that Debbie provided.  We will be using our own fabric at the next class.  Thank you Debbie for making this fun, easy, and I am looking forward to the next class.........

This is the quilt we are making

Good friends are like quilts - they age with you yet never lose their warmth.

WHAT KIND OF FUR IS IT?

Jim came in yesterday with this cool trunk.  He dates it late 1700's to early 1800's and it is bound with some kind of hide.  What do you think the hide is?

We have some fun new arrivals that I thought I would share with you.  I love these glasses, or are they parfait glasses?  or are they...

Sonya is so talented.  She makes lamps and hanging lights out of the most fun stuff.

Carrie, one of our newest members, already has quite a following.  Come in and check out her merchandise...  but if you like it, buy it, as it probably won't be there the next time you visit.

And check this out... is it a bike or a scooter.  Don and Amber have the coolest of  old toys, games, and vintage signage.

My camera battery ran out before I had a chance to get a picture of Carol's beautiful, unusual vanity.  It is wonderful..  Until then
